We are dedicated to empowering marginalized communities across Karnataka through sustainable livelihood programs, health initiatives, quality education, and community development.
The 73rd Constitutional Amendment, aimed at decentralizing power, was implemented two decades ago. As we reach this milestone, it is crucial to review, brainstorm, and strengthen our Panchayatraj institutions. Mr. Venkatrao Ghorpade, speaking at the convention, introduced revolutionary ideas such as women’s special gram sabhas, gender budgeting, and gender planning. He emphasized that 20% of the state’s budget should be allocated to support these initiatives.

This workshop was a pivotal step towards ensuring that our grassroots institutions are not only functional but also thriving, with meaningful participation and effective governance.
Our mission is to elevate the living standards of at least 3,000 underprivileged and marginalized families across 200 selected villages. We aim to achieve this by enhancing basic amenities, infrastructure, and overall quality of life through the active involvement of 33 Grama Panchayats (local governance bodies).
Launched in 2011, this initiative by KROSS is driven by a vision to empower civil society and foster effective, people-friendly local governance. The program focuses on improving the lives of marginalized populations, with a special emphasis on women, by ensuring better local governance.
Our commitment is evident in the dedication of Grama Panchayats and partner organizations towards this goal. A team of 34 carefully selected members has been trained to pass on their knowledge to partner organization staff, Civil Fora members, Panchayat Raj Institution (PRI) members, Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), Self-Help Groups (SHGs), and their federations.
This program is more than just an initiative—it’s a movement towards empowering communities, creating positive change, and ensuring that every voice is heard and valued in the governance process.
